News Corp’s commission was for 12,500 sqm of editorial and advertising office spaces, and the site is well suited to the large floor plates required for newspaper production. The north façade features a double skin of naturally ventilated glass to shade and insulate the interior and between the skins is a trafficable zone for maintenance and servicing. The outer skin is treated with a graphic overlay, which is a subtle reference to the building’s function. An offset core and atrium allow light to penetrate to every level. With intelligent lighting, heating, cooling and ventilation systems, this building is a technological first for Adelaide.
