Earle Arney sets out his predictions for the industry for the year ahead
Earle Arney was asked by Property Week to set out his views on the key issues for investors and developers for 2023, ranging from sustainability goals, net zero targets and energy standards.
He believes that in 2023, some clients will look to push boundaries when it comes to “whole-life” approaches to construction, not just of individual buildings but on a city-wide scale.
He said: “we [AFK] are being encouraged to
creatively reposition existing
assets, and design new buildings
that are not only resilient but
aligned to the ‘new normal’, given
the rapid move to more stringent
ESG and carbon requirements,”

He added: “Clients recognise that massive asset destruction awaits owners left holding buildings that do not measure up in terms of both their footprint and operation.
“At the heart of this change is
people. Indoor environmental
quality will increasingly become
important, as will creating places
and spaces that build community,
whatever the use class.”
