Conversion and restoration of an existing five-storey building in the Westminster Conservation Area, creating bespoke workplace suites.
This project involved the conversion and restoration of a five-storey heritage building in the Westminster Conservation Area, transforming it into bespoke workplace suites. Our aim was to enhance the building’s value while maintaining its historic character.
The property at 21 Buckingham Gate includes a lower ground floor and a first-floor Juliette balcony. Care was taken to preserve the architectural integrity of the facades, with all modifications and repairs aligned to the original design language.
While the building remains a workplace, it was upgraded into a modern, multi-tenant office space. The refurbishment included structural reconfigurations, waterproofing of the basement to create additional workspace, window replacements, and repairs to the façade and roof. A new lift was installed to improve accessibility throughout the building, and we managed the mechanical and electrical installations to ensure the building meets modern standards.
This project was part of a larger development that also included the conversion of the neighbouring 51 and 53 Catherine Place. Across all three buildings, we carefully preserved key architectural features like ceiling mouldings, cornices, and decorative fireplaces, blending these historic details with contemporary design elements to create a seamless integration of old and new.
